This website will provide you with information about regular classes and workshops you can attend here in Surrey which are taught by Jo Osborne. Buqi treatments are booked by arrangement.
Taijiwuxigong, Taiji 37 and Buqi Healing are all part of the Buqi System, as founded and taught by Dr Shen Hongxun; T'ai Chi Grandmaster and Teaching Lama.
For clarity: Qigong and Chi Kung are words that are synonymous, as are T'ai Chi and Taiji, or Taijiquan and T'ai Chi Ch'uan.
Taijiwuxigong is a system of Qigong; exercises that involve movement, breath, the mind and the internal energy system. It is a system of exercise to specifically benefit health but also it is 'a way of personal development' and work for 'alignment with self'.
Exercises include standing, sitting, lying down, the particular use of breath and sound, concentration and methods for quieten-ing the busy active mind. We develop, explore and work with internal energy forces in a tangible way and use 'spontaneous movement', a particular natural phenomena, which has many positive health effects. We work to clean the meridian system and to develop 'Yuan Qi'; the 'vital' or 'life' force.
We can work lightly or strongly and cater for all ages and abilities. Our work is fun, gentle and respectful. The age range in these classes have so far included from 17 years to 87 years.
T'ai Chi is a movement practise which is traditionally taught as a 'Form' or a sequence of movements. A T'ai Chi Form is a series of graceful, slow and balanced movement which has its roots in martial fighting practises.
We have two separate types of classes; one in which we study The Taiji 37 Form, as taught by Dr Shen and Master Shen Jin, and in the other we work with the individual Taiji 37 Standing Postures; the latter of which is stronger work and is in keeping with older styles of teaching methods of T'ai Chi. These classes are taught as a health exercise practise and never involves any fighting, sparring or competition.
People of all ages can enjoy T'ai Chi.
Buqi is a non-touch, energetic, healing treatment which uses the energy forces and frequencies that have been developed through the practise of Taijiwuxigong and Taiji 37; used for the purpose of healing.
Many common or chronic health complaints can be alleviated by both attending classes and by receiving Buqi treatments. The work is completely non-invasive, is carried out on the fully clothed client, addresses the relationship between the emotional and the physical, the held tension, the structure and functioning of the body and of the spine; i.e. the root causes of 'dis-ease'.
All Buqi Practitioners have followed a professional training as taught by Dr Shen and under his guidance and insightful eyes. The Buqi system has a specific treatment methodology and is a part of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). Students will have studied the aetiology (causes) of disease from an energetic perspective and will have a considered and lengthy process of self-development; a necessary and fundamental part of their own training.
Hello.
In this website you will find details about classes and workshops that are taught by me, Jo Osborne.
I am passionate about this work and have committed myself, for over 12 years, to my studies with the internationally renowned Dr Shen Hongxun, the founder of The Buqi Institute, Chinese Doctor, T'ai Chi Grandmaster and Teaching Lama.
You will find that there are regular workshops and classes to attend, either that are taught by me personally, or that are taught by colleagues around the country, or indeed the highly recommended workshops and retreats that are offered from the Buqi Institute. If you explore further you will also be able to find out about the remarkable work that I am pioneering for horses using Buqi.
My studies with Dr Shen Hongxun, combined with my own teaching style and methodology is centred around bringing each individual to be able to tap into the, what might otherwise be, mysterious internal energetic practise, for the purpose of health, well-ness, peace, longevity and happiness.
I look forward to meeting you and working with you.
